What is Umake.it? Umake.it is the on-line resource where you can teach people or learn about how things are made. The goal of this site is to help users live within their means by helping them create their own products and/or services with out having to buy everything. How does Umake.it work? Umake.it is a channel based, user content driven site where users are able to upload and input any information in order to help others learn how to make things. Should someone disagree or wish to add to previous postings, they are welcome and encouraged to, as the Umake.it database will grow helping to enrich the knowledge of all users. How do I sign up? Its easy and painless! Simply click on the "register" link on the top left of the website under the "Community Login" menu. The only information necessary to register is the following: Real name, username, valid email address and password. Once a user is registered they have full access to publish to the Umake.it resources. Do I have to be registered in order to use Umake.it? No, however an unregistered guest will only be able to view major components, such a videos and will not be able to publish information or view private areas such as user channels. How do I create a User Channel? Once a user is registered they can then create and access User Channels from the Main menu or the "My Channel" menu which is visible when logged in.To create your channel simply click on the "Create a Channel" link and follow the prompts to see if the desired channel name is available. It is important to note that only one channel can be assigned per username. What information can I put on My Channel? The information which can be submitted is up to the user and can be submitted on our WYSIWYG editor in the following media: Text, images, video, HTML and Flash. With regards to content restrictions please see below. Can I add video to My Channel? Yes, however the video must be uploaded to the Internet first. Once the video has been published to the net, whether on our site or a third party site (ie. youtube), you simply have to copy the "embed" code and paste it into your channel editor.Once the channel editor is opened push the "Add Code" buttons at the bottom your channel editor. Once pushed you will see the following appear " {source}{/source} " Simply place your desired code in between the two "source scripts like so: {source} Place your script here {/source} *** Sometimes the browser requires a few refreshes before the inserted code shows up! 8[ How do I upload video to the Internet? Unfortunately at this present time our Upload Video feature is disabled due to technical difficulties. In the mean time all videos must be uploaded to a third party web page such as: www.youtube.com Are there any content restrictions? Users are able to submit any content, in regards to helping the Umake.it community learn, on their channel with the following restrictions: No pornography, no harm to another individual, no implements of violence and no plagiarized material. What about intellectual property? Publishing information on Umake.it is considered public disclosure. If you feel that you have original intellectual property, then please protect it at your local patent office before publication. Further Questions?
