Today Meghan & I officially open Umake.it, our community based web site to the public. We would like to take this time to invite everybody to come & visit our on line forum where users get to Learn, Share & Create with the larger Umake.it community.
Features of this site include:
User Channels - Modeled after MySpace , users get a fully customizable web space where they can publish articles, images, videos & action scripts in order to teach other users...whatever.
User Groups - Users are able to create, administer and join groups based upon their favorite activities. User Groups includes the following features: The ability to post bulletins, manage a group forum, create events and the ability to connect to with other Umake.it users.
Community - Umake.it offers the ability for Users to connect and socialize in a friends based system where users can to make connections with other users throughout the Umake.it community.
Video Library - Check out the Umake.it Video Library which boasts a large volume of original content and other How To from all over the web. Users are able to add video links and upload original videos in order to continuously expand the Video Library
ShopTalk - Stop by the Umake.it ShopTalk message board where users can share their thoughts & ideas with other site users & guests.
Official Umake.it Opening

Meghan and I are well on our way to the web based community that we have envisioned. We have filmed & edited a number of original videos, publishing articles and have been scouring the Internet for video from all sources in order to create a solid base of information for Users when they begin with our site. Due to our steady progress Meghan and I have decided to have an official opening of the site for Monday, Oct. 6Th/ 2008!
Of course we will have to have a big celebration, but that will come in the future.

We have just been informed by our web hosting company that our "deluxe" package does not allow for the streaming of original video content! In order to achieve this feature we must significantly upgrade our system. - Which of course Meghan & I will do as soon as possible- In the mean time, however, we have created a Youtube account where users are more than welcome to upload movies to, and then they can link them in our video player.
It is important to note, that this restriction only applies to original content only, videos that exist on the web currently can be added or embedded to our site at any time.

Umake.it Short Term Goal

Meghan and I have just sat down and decided that our short term goal for Umake.it will be to have a database of at least 5000 videos from all over the web by the end of the 2008 year. it is a lofty goal but we are sure that this is doable in order to set up a solid foundation for the site!

Welcome to Umake.it

Umake.it - The on-line resource designed to help users learn, share and create all manner of things. The site boasts a community based forum (similar to myspace.com) where users are able to publish the content of their choosing, on their own personalized web space, in order to help other learn from their experience. This site invites everyone to come and make movies, author articles, publish photographs, create groups, file share and and engage with other users as we strive to make more people independent, through home-based production.
